The fact of the days was that for the last 15 matches planned – semifinals and finals – all participants were Asian players. The first matches of the days saw Iskandar (MAS – N°5) and Huan Gao (CHN – N°2) qualify for the men’s single final defeating respectively Jen-Hao Hsu (TPE – N°1) and Arif (MAS). Shortly later in the mixed double, Tang/Liu (CHN – N°8) eliminated Malaysia’s Vountus/Meng (MAS) to qualify for the final where they would meet their teammates Zhang/Ou who defeated the seed N°2, Malaysia’s Lufti/Fei Cho Soong. The women’s single tournament was the only one having a logical final with both the seed N°1, China’s Xin Liu (world N°20) eliminating it’s teammate Xiaojia Chen (CHN) and seed n°2 Yu-Po Pai beating Shiomda (JPN) in their respective semifinals.In the women’s double, Shinoda/Uratani (JPN) obtained their spot in the final after defeating Kim/Kang (KOR) to face seed n°2 China’s Ou/Tang who defeated Taipei’s Wu/Hsieh in two expeditive game 21/8 21/13. Finally in the men’s double China’s Guo/Zhang defeated Hsu/Lin (TPE) while Arif/Iskandar (MAS) overcame the loss of the first game to finally defeat another pair from Chinese Taipei Tseng/Wang and qualify for the final.
This second day of the individual events started with a terrible first hour for the seeded teams in mixed double for their third round matches. Chi-Ling Wang/Ti-Jung Wu (TPE – N°1 – world N°77) lost to the Thaïs Sitthikom Thammasin/Natcha Sangchote 25/23 21/13 offering the players from Thailand a spot in the ¼ finals. Few minutes later it’s the seed N°3 Lamsfuss/Volkmann (GER) who saw their tournament stop against the pair from Malaysia Vountus/Meng 21/12 21/15. The afternoon session was devoted to ¼ finals and saw Malaysia and China both qualify two pairs for the semi-finals. On the top of the bracket Tang/Liu (CHN – N°8) beat Sitthikom Thammasin/Natcha Sangchote (THA) and will face Malaysia’s Vountus/Meng in the final after the Malaysian pair defeated Kim/Kang (KOR). On the bottom of the bracket Zhang/Ou (CHN) will face the number 2 seed Lufti/Fei Cho Soong (MAS) tomorrow for a spot in the final of this 13th World University Badminton Championship.
On Sunday July 27th in the Municipal Sport Palace Vista Alegre of Cordoba (ESP) spectators could come and observe the first day of the individual tournament of the WUC Badminton 2014. After the three days of the Team Event it was the occasion for many players to play their own card in five individual disciplines, namely Men’s Single, Women’s Single, Men’s Double, Women’s Double and Mixed Double.
China has won the gold medal after winning Malaysia 3-0, winning all matches played in the tournament. The Chinese team ratifies the medal obtained in the 2012 edition. Also Malaysia has done a great competition, getting silver medal. Completing the podium are Chinese-Taipei and Korea after have been defeated by China and Malaysia respectively, being this last match very exciting.
Córdoba, 25th July. Remarkable 2nd journey for Spain in the World University Championship, Córdoba 2014 after starting with a convincing victory against India (4 - 1). Then, in the evening they obtained an extraordinary recovery defeating Canada 3 -2. Tomorrow, in the finals of the Team Competition Spain will play for the 9th position against the Russian Federation.
Today has been celebrated the first day of Team Event competition, supposing a hard beginning for Spain in the XIII World University Badminton Championship with a double loss versus Thailand and China with identical score of 5-0.
In Group A, China, after winning both matches 5-0, will fight for the first place in the tournament. Head in Group B will be decided tomorrow at 9.00am in the match between Germany and Taipei, with the same points for the time being. Japan leads Group C, having a priviledged position in the dispute for the first place in the group and have the opportunity to fight for the championship, although Switzerland still has a chance. Looking at group D highlights the clear superiority of Malaysia and Korea over Canada and the USA respectively. The first place is waiting for one of them tomorrow at 9:00 am in "Vista Alegre" Sport Venue after the match between them.
The 13th World University Badminton Championship 2014 has started today at 9:00 in "Vista Alegre" Sports Venue, where four matches have inaugurated the tournament: Thailand-Spain, China-India, Germany-Australia and Chinese Taipei-Brazil. Then, the rest of teams will play in the same sports hall at 12:00, 15:00 and 18:00. Yesterday evening took place the Opening Ceremony of the XIII World University Badminton Championship in the assembly hall, placed in the Séneca Building, in “La Asunción” University Residence, thus starting officially the Championship.
It was an act full of institutional symbols and formality, where firstly the Spanish national anthem was heard while the Spanish flag was raised. Afterwards proceeded a countries parade where each Delegation was preceded by its national flag. The Spanish team paraded with the mascot of the championship ‘Ukito’.

Offical transportation will be provided from/to Malaga International Airport and Cordoba Train Station.
In case of landing in a different airport (Madrid, Seville, Barcelona...) we can help you in renting a bus or booking train tickets in order to get to Cordoba, but at each team's cost.
Teams attending are requested to pay at least 25% of each delegation participation fee (60€ per day per person - both officials and athletes)
According to FISU regulations:
"Three (3) months before the Championship, countries entering in an
individual sport must confirm their entry with an advance payment of 25 %
of the accommodation costs per competitor entered"
